Peggy Jean Williams
Peggy Jean Williams, 73, of Gaston, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.
Peggy was born on May 9, 1940, to Alfred and Helen White Jean of Emporia, VA. In addition to her beloved father and mother, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Richard Andrew Jean and Marvin White Jean; her sisters, Virginia Lois Jean, Helen Pearline Norwood, Mildred Frances Rose, Carolyn Louise Tuck, and Dorothy Elaine Braswell; as well as her beloved grandchildren, Timothy Scott Daniel and Gary Eugene Pierce.
Peggy was known throughout her family as a kind-hearted lovable mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was known as 'Nanny' to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a seamstress for Roanoke Sportswear for many years.
She is survived and loved by her children, Debra W. Pierce and her husband, Amos, of Roanoke Rapids, Sherry W. Daniel of Roanoke Rapids, Brenda Williams of Gaston, Cynthia Williams of Roanoke Rapids, Vickie Henley and her husband, Tommy, of Roanoke Rapids, and Jeffrey Williams and his wife, Amy, of Roanoke Rapids; twelve grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and one unborn great grandchild. Peggy also leaves behind her sisters, Betty Jean and Sue Harris both of Roanoke Rapids; her brothers, Alfred Jean, Jr. of Emporia, Va. and Jerry Jean and his wife, Loretta, of Roanoke Rapids.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids with Rev. Wesley Agee officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.
The family will receive friends Monday, February 17, 2014, from 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home in Roanoke Rapids and other times at her son's home, 112 Steeplechase Run, Roanoke Rapids.
